For Jill Broadhurst, Real Estate is a Family Business

Jill Broadhurst grew up in the real estate business and she understands first-hand the role that homeownership can play in creating wealth and financial security for families.

In the 1960s, both of her parents immigrated to the United States.  “They were not college educated and my mom did not have a good command of English at the time.”  According to Broadhurst, the way her parents were going to realize their American Dreams was through real estate—and they did.

Despite the obstacles, her parents began investing in multi-family properties when she was just a child.  I grew up hearing my parents talk shop and as a family, we would visit the properties on the weekends and we all had a task assigned.  Our reward at the end of the day was a trip to McDonald’s—it was perfect.”

At a young age, she learned some of her biggest life lessons: work hard, take calculated risks, dedicate yourself to your clients and the rewards will follow.  Witnessing first-hand how homeownership was breaking down barriers for her family, she decided to embark in a real estate career of her own.

As a REALTOR®, with over 20 years of experience (not counting her childhood), Broadhurst provides her clients knowledge, resources and guidance, allowing them to make confident real estate decisions of their own.  She shares, “I can provide individuals the achievement of homeownership financial security, stability, freedom and pride of owning a home—this is the American Dream.”

The possibilities and the range of opportunity real estate provides to individuals and families like her own, is something she is very proud of—and her community impact does not stop there. Inspired to do more by her fellow REALTORS® in leadership positions, Broadhurst expands her family’s real estate legacy and serves as a community advocate in organized real estate.

“I was fortunate enough to have REALTOR® friends who were already in leadership positions and they supported my interest in following their lead.”  Today, she’s proud to serve as a volunteer at the local, state and national levels.

Currently, she’s a member on the Government Action Committee at the Bridge Association of REALTORS®, serves on the Federal and the Legislative committees in addition to serving as a Director for the California Association of REALTORS® (C.A.R.). Notably, she serves as the C.A.R. Investment Housing Issues Chair and is one of five founding members on the Californians for Homeownership, a non-profit organization which works to address California’s housing crisis by enforcing laws and fighting unlawful policies that limit access to housing affordability for families.

Through her leadership and dedication, Broadhurst paves the way forward for the next generation of Latinx REALTORS®. She encourages them to get involved in communities like C.A.R.’s Latinx Professionals Network, whose mission is to amplify the voices of Latinx REALTORS® in California.

For those questioning their ability to take the next step, she has a few words of advice; “Never place barriers of any kind in your way. If you feel like trying something, go for it, because you may never get the chance to do it again.”

The California Association of REALTORS® proudly celebrates Jill Broadhurst as a Latinx industry leader.
